Employee Satisfaction Surveys
What’s the status of the soul of your organization? If you want to know (and you probably should want to know) then you need to start a process that gives you detailed information about the thoughts and feelings of all of your employees.
Employee satisfaction surveys can collect information from employees on a wide variety of topics. Some critical areas are: retention and turnover, training, employee morale and job satisfaction, customer focus, effectiveness of benefits, communications, and leadership. By providing all employees with an opportunity to provide input – usually via individual interview and through a customized written form -- management can gather a lot of extremely valuable information about an organization’s health and vitality. An employee opinion survey can be a very effective means of gaining specific suggestions for improving an operation. According to SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) it has been estimated that more than 70% of organizations survey their employees either annually or biannually
In our experience, anonymous employee opinion surveys provide excellent feedback, and can improve employee attitudes and trust in an organization. An employee opinion survey can be a great precursor to strategic planning, because it guarantees that all of the in-house stake-holders have provided thoughtful in-put.
One caveat, however. Please don’t undertake an employee opinion survey process if you don’t have the intention of addressing concerns that come up in that process, and making changes. If you believe in teamwork and want it to get better at your workplace, an employee opinion survey may be the perfect tool for you!
