Director of Sales and Marketing
The Boise Centre, Idaho’s premier convention center facility with 45,000 sq. ft. of exhibition and meeting space, superb food, top notch service and wireless internet throughout, is seeking a Director of Sales and Marketing.
As the largest convention facility in Idaho, the Boise Centre was created to generate local economic development. Boise Centre provides the highest level of quality services with the utmost consideration to its clients, guests and employees while preserving the asset they have been given the responsibility to operate.
The Director of Sales and Marketing is responsible for directing, planning and implementing national and local sales efforts to generate conference and convention business while developing creative marketing campaigns that promote the Boise Centre as a convention center and meeting space. In concert with the General Manager, the Director of Sales and Marketing will establish budget goals for meeting space rental revenues and related net operating results for food/beverage, facility and audio/visual rentals.
We seek a unique, enthusiastic and dedicated professional whose key
responsibilities are:
- Promote and sell the facility and services of the Boise Centre to existing and potential customers through all means available, including but not limited to: face to face meetings, phone calls, email, correspondence, tradeshows, the internet, etc.
- Develop, implement and reconcile comprehensive sales and marketing programs.
- Negotiate contracts successfully.
- Maintain and monitor a solid media relations program.
- Develop, monitor and evaluate website and social media outlets.
- Develop and implement a plan for Boise Centre brand awareness.
- Explore non-traditional marketing opportunities for the facility and events.
- Prepare analysis of marketing and sales impact, including monthly marketing and sales reports.
- Track, analyze and compare event information.
- Participate in conceptualizing future development of the Boise Centre.
- Coordinate with other departments to implement marketing ideas and tasks.
- Develop, monitor and evaluate the annual marketing and sales budget.
- Determine staffing requirements.
- Recruit, interview, select, train, motivate and evaluate staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; coach employees and conduct performance evaluations; implement discipline and termination procedures.

Requirements
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree (BA) from an accredited college or university with major coursework in marketing, public relations, business relations or other related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of increasingly responsible experience in destination sales and marketing, preferably with a convention center or conference center.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
- PC Skills including Microsoft Office applications, contact management software and scheduling software.
- Familiarity with publishing software such as MS Publisher, Illustrator and Adobe.
- Advanced knowledge of sales and marketing and public relations concepts.
- Knowledge of website maintenance.
- Experience with and knowledge of social media methods.
- Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations.
- Active membership and participation in industry-related professional organizations.

Salary: $65,000 to $75,000 depending on experience
